Corina – every season there is a particular color that stands out or leads the color trend. This year’s color for fall and winter is chocolate brown. After seeing the 2025 trends, I checked my closet for items in that shade to see if I had any and plan how I'd wear them this season.  Surprisingly, I do have quite a few items in dark brown since it has always been a winter color. I like brown because it is timeless and considered a neutral. The psychology of colors identifies brown as representing strength, reliability and trust. In the fashion world it represents luxury and high quality. Some people might argue that dark brown is dull and boring. However, it can be mixed and matched with any color. Gold, red and orange for a brighter look and other neutrals such as black or a different shade of brown for a more sophisticated one.

Ana- When it comes to gelato, I indulge. For me it's always dark chocolate; so rich and smooth. According to Gail Scott (the author of Your Color Style) brown is "the power color for fall 2025" and I cannot be more excited to be covered in dark chocolate brown this season. According to Gail, brown offers the perfect balance of polish, authority, and approachability; communicating warmth, stability and quiet confidence. That is a lot to say with one color, and I am all about it.

Let me say my husband is not a fan of this color but I am betting that by the end of the season he will love or love it!

Like gelato, you can also have two flavors in one serving. I like to combine my dark chocolate brown with navy blue (another great neutral). And the cherry on top? Well, it turns out (according to Gail) that "brown is one of the best shades you can wear with grey hair". I have "cool grey hair": Icy, silver, with ash undertone; so guess what? "cool browns" like dark chocolate "echoes the coolness of [my] hair".

Viejas, this fall, be the chocolate!
