SPREZZATURA is an Italian term documented by Baldassare Castiglione in his famous book of etiquette known as The Book of the Courtier in 1528 and it was later borrowed by the world of contemporary fashion.
In fashion, Sprezzatura refers to dressing with ease and carelessness without fear of judgement when breaking the “rules”. It is the ability to make your outfit look simple and relaxed even when elaborate and detailed. It is not learned but innate, it is the “not right” outfit that you wear and make it look sophisticated, the “mistake” to your look that is a personal statement, or the “contrast” in prints, textures, colors and layers that you wear with confidence.
We all show SPREZZATURA at some point or another with our own individual fashion style. It can be the same piece we wear often but differently, that outfit combination that is our style trademark or the accessory that breaks the rule.
Today, these Viejas are sharing some examples of SPREZZATURA.
